Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 Overview

Known as 攻殻機動隊 SAC_2045 and Kōkaku Kidōtai: SAC_2045 in Japanese, this animation is based on a 1980’s series with the same title. The original story was written by  Masamune Shirow more than 40 years ago and is set in the Stand Alone Complex sub-continuity.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the show didn’t get dubbed in English even after one month of release. But now it’s available in both Japanese and English.

As of now, only the first season has been released. We’re yet to get any confirmation from the makers for Season 2. Having a total of 12 episodes, the first season begins with the “NO NOISE, NO LIFE” episode. The last one is named “NOSTALGIA”, and indeed it will give you one! Each episode is less than a half-hour, making it a 5-hour watch for the complete Season 1.

Kamiyama, who previously worked on the Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex series, acknowledged that in order to guarantee a seamless plot, he altered a compilation version for his personal reasons when producing the programme. He has also hired a completely different team for editing and other visual works. As a result, even if they’ve seen the entire first season, he believes that viewers will be able to discover a “new perspective.” Aramaki (Starship Troopers: Invasion) confesses that he isn’t as engaged with the compilation film as he was with season 1 and season 2. Still, he is forward to see what the new movie will bring to the table.
